Chafee Supplemental Funding for Foster Youth Age 18 - 26

On December 27, 2020 the COVID-19 Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act was signed into law. This law increased the support for Chafee funded Programs, and provides the state of Arizona the option to allow young adults who have attained 18 years of age and not yet 27 years of age; and those who experienced foster care at 14 or older to access these funds.

Young Adults are eligible for these funds if:

  • they are 18 years of age, but not yet 27 years of age; and
  • were in foster care at 14 or older or are in foster care;
  • are a resident of Arizona;
  • have an identified need which is identified can be supported under the “Supporting Foster Youth and Families through the Pandemic Act”

This funding is available until September 30, 2021 during the COVID-19 public health emergency period; or until additional legislation or directives are provided by the Administration for Children and Families which makes changes through the program instructions; or until all funds have been expended. These funds are based on the young adult identifying their need, and approval is made by the Department of Child Safety.
