DCS Director Greg McKay shares a Shout Out for a great response during a weather crisis.
On Monday night a vicious storm ripped through the Phoenix Metro area leaving many areas without power. Among the affected areas was the Child Abuse Hotline. They had no power, no computers, and the phone system was down. And, it was raining in the building. What a perfect excuse to close shop and reduce work for the evening. But that is not what occurred. Instead, stellar hotline leadership and a committed team realized the importance of maintaining the lifeline to children in need. They took handwritten reports and used the old analog phone system to stay connected. The hotline incrementally moved staff to our Central office while others stayed behind to remain available to our public. They even boxed and brought their designated phone system to activate at central office. Eventually, the entire hotline was positioned at central office where they operated for the entire next day. I am proud beyond words. Thank you!
