Anytime a family can be reunified, that’s a big win! And Jamie Hayek, a Case Specialist in the West Valley has done some OUTSTANDING work in this area. In fact, Jamie was so good, the judge in the case took time to let us know. We thought all Arizonans should see how well Jamie gets the job done, and has earned a DCS Shout Out! Here’s what the judge had to say:
While I have been on the bench for in excess of ten years, my tenure on a juvenile court assignment has been only for the past two months. My cumulative time on the bench has allowed me the opportunity to observe professionals in varying capacities performing in exceptional ways. I have always felt that it is my responsibility to formally recognize those professionals who embody the ideals of their profession and the court institution as a whole.
I had the pleasure of overseeing the finalization of a dependency case involving a mother who had a pronounced history of substance abuse. By the time I got involved, Mother had made great progress, perhaps even better characterized as fantastic. The Department recommended the dismissal of the case and all present praised Mother for her efforts.
While Mother was clearly proud of her accomplishments and was ready to perform all of her parental responsibilities, she wanted me and the others present to know how much she appreciated the work of Jamie Hayek. She noted the length that Ms. Hayek went to assist Mother in becoming drug free and competent to parent. Mother stated that if not for Ms. Hayek’s support and dedication, Mother believed that she would not have been successful.
We live in times in which people are quick to criticize and slow to commend. The fact that Mother took time during her moment of triumph to acknowledge the work of Ms. Hayek speaks volumes about how much of a role Ms. Hayek played in Mother’s life. Having witnessed a moment like this, I realized that I would have been remiss not to pass this on, as I must assume that Ms. Hayek did not return to the office and fully inform all of her colleagues of the praise she had just received.
