Mike Valles, a supervisor in the Phoenix Young Adult Program has certainly gone above and beyond to benefit the children who are involved with DCS and also members of the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD).
For a number of years Mike’s ongoing case unit has been the point unit for children involved with both of these agencies, facilitating services and ensuring young adults who age out have continuing services whenever possible.
During the last year Mike has accepted the additional duty of developing a workshop curriculum to present to all Central and Southwest Region staff, educating DCS staff regarding the service available and the absolute importance of partnering with DDD. Not only has he taken time to help develop the curriculum, he has also made himself available to “team facilitate” these presentations. To date he has completed the presentations to all Maricopa and Pinal County staff, averaging 3 presentations a month. This, while managing his unit, educating new staff and staying available for his Section staff during many changes… Above and Beyond… Way to go Mike!! – by Sheryll Belsher
