I wanted to ask for a Shout Out for my coworker Molly Gebler. The work we do is hard, day in and day out the work will never be done, the sad stories, the piles of paper work, all of this and more; the job of a social worker is hard. Molly is new and works in a hard unit, the 800 Wetmore unit in Tucson. Yet, despite everything, despite the day in and day out, despite the sad stories, the paperwork, the implementation of new policy and trial and error with the model unit... Molly is smiling. Molly, with her curly blonde hair and incense smelling cubicle, will take her time to help. She lights up the dreariness of our work and keeps her smile. Her approach with the kids is always the best, her approach to her work is always with a smile.
In all my time in social work I have never met someone like Molly. She refuses to gossip, she will befriend even the angriest of bears out there and does it with that smile. If you've met her, you would know what this is all about. Us social workers, we get burned out fast with everything that is put on us; Molly hasn't and refuses to let her light be snuffed out. She works hard and diligently with everything and loves doing it. Anything negative thrown her she turns positive, and everyone knows it. She deserves some recognition for who and what she is, a light in a dark place.
Thank you and I hope you can give some recognition to this wonderful worker, the department is lucky to have her here with us.
