When you become a foster parent, you get licensed to do more than open your home to children in need. It’s a license to put someone else first. A license to expand your family, even temporarily. A license to give more of yourself than you thought possible. A license to change a child’s life. Becoming a licensed foster parent gives you a license to love.

How Do I Get Started ?

Becoming a foster parent is a journey, but it’s one you don’t have to walk alone. If you are ready to take the next step, we’re thrilled to help you get started! First, you’ll fill out a form that helps us understand you a bit better, then based on what you tell us, we’ll help define your next steps to licensing.

Get Involved with DCS

If you want to help foster a child but aren’t quite ready to become a foster parent, there are other ways to get involved. Consider donating to a DCS partner organization, becoming a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), volunteering at foster events, or even just sharing a social post to bring awareness to this important cause.
