When children first come into foster care, the goal of AZDCS is typically to reunify the child with their parent once it is safe to do so. Sometimes, parents are unable to provide their child with a safe environment to live in. As a result, the court determines it would be best for the child to find an adoptive home.
As an adoptive parent, you become the legal parent of that child. You will have all of the rights and responsibilities of being a parent, the same as you would have if the child were born to you. As an adoptive parent, you have the opportunity to provide a safe and loving home to a child who may have previously experienced abuse or neglect. You won’t just be changing their life, they will also change your life forever.
AZDCS with help from the community maintains The Arizona Children’s Heart Gallery. This gallery brings visibility to some of the state’s most vulnerable boys and girls using the power of photography and capturing their spirits and stories.
The goal of this gallery is to connect these children with their forever families. The children you see in this gallery are waiting for someone like you to give them a place to call home and nurture them as they grow.
