Arizona's Children are Waiting for You
When children first come into foster care, the goal of AZDCS is typically to reunify the child with their parent once it is safe to do so. Sometimes, parents are unable to provide their child with a safe environment to live in. As a result, the court determines it would be best for the child to find an adoptive home.
As an adoptive parent, you become the legal parent of that child. You will have all of the rights and responsibilities of being a parent, the same as you would have if the child were born to you. As an adoptive parent, you have the opportunity to provide a safe and loving home to a child who may have previously experienced abuse or neglect. You won’t just be changing their life, they will also change your life forever.
AZDCS with help from the community maintains The Arizona Children’s Heart Gallery. This gallery brings visibility to some of the state’s most vulnerable boys and girls using the power of photography and capturing their spirits and stories.
The goal of this gallery is to connect these children with their forever families. The children you see in this gallery are waiting for someone like you to give them a place to call home and nurture them as they grow.
Hear From Other Adoptive Parents
As an adoptive parent in Arizona, you are in good company. We are proud to be able to tell the stories of the adoptive families here in Arizona and the amazing children they are raising – some adopted from The Arizona Children’s Heart Gallery.
You can explore the stories of many adoptive families and get a true glimpse of what it is like to adopt in Arizona and to make a difference in the life of a child.
Take the Next Step
If you’re ready to take the next step in becoming an adoptive parent, you can begin by going through our orientation process. You will get an overview of what the process of adoption is like in Arizona and have many questions answered. Through this process you will also discover the needs of the children in care and determine what the next right step is for yourself and your family.
You can also feel free to contact us by email if you have questions or give us a call. You can talk to an AZDCS representative at 1-877-KIDS-NEEDU. We’re available during business hours, or you can leave a message and we will call you back.
