Technology will soon revolutionize how Department of Child Safety (DCS) frontline workers engage children and families in the field.
This summer, the Department will roll out a program that will supply its roughly 1,400 investigators and case managers with tablets so DCS workers can devote more time to address the needs of children and families.
With the new technology, investigators and case managers will be able to make referrals and enter case notes from the field, organize monthly case visits by area, and utilize a speech-to-text feature to reduce data entry time.
The Department recently selected Diona (US) Inc. to provide software solutions in support of the tablet project.
Diona specializes in developing mobility software to help child welfare workers address their unique needs while in the field.
“We are excited about this key initiative and its transformative potential,” said Linda Jewell, DCS’s Chief Information Officer. “It is our intent to put the best tools in the hands of our investigators and case workers to help them do their jobs and improve the lives of children and families across the state.”
The tablet program is a part of DCS’s broader plan to modernize Arizona’s child welfare system.

Training on the tablets will begin in July 2017 with field use planned for August 2017.
