Monique Hernandez and her husband Gerardo had never considered adoption – it wasn’t something they had on their minds or felt called to. Adoption came to them in an unexpected way. In 2013, Monique and her husband made the move from Colorado to Arizona. That same year, Esias Seumptewa was placed into the foster care system in Arizona and began his journey to find his forever home.

A Dream Come True

Anyone who has met Kelley and John McGinn would say they are a truly special couple. They have been foster parents in Arizona for the past 17 years. They have had over 40 foster children pass through their home, including several sibling groups. They have helped shape them and help them learn. The McGinns have been steady support to kids of all ages as they find their way through life. One of these kids is Leon.

It’s Time to Get Talking About Suicide

Suicide is often viewed as a taboo or awkward topic of conversation. It’s time that we change that. In fact, lives depend on it.

Each year, over 800,000 people die by suicide. That’s one person every 40 seconds around the world.(*) While this statistic can be jarring, what is even more surprising is the number of people who are unaware of the devastating impact suicide has.

Child Fatalities / Near Fatalities Information Releases

State law mandates the Arizona Department of Child Safety to release preliminary information and, upon request, additional records in cases where children have died or nearly died as a result of abuse, abandonment or neglect by a parent, guardian or caregiver.

If DCS receives a report that a child has died or nearly died as a result of abuse, abandonment or neglect, the preliminary information will be posted on this page.
