After Lauren’s son was removed from her care, DCS provided a list of things she needed to work on to get him back. She had already decided to try to get clean on her own but was unsuccessful multiple times, so she entered a residential treatment program for support. “We were successfully reunified after 13 months, so it ended well for us.”
Carissa is a recovering addict who has been clean and sober for several years now. “I never could have dreamed that I’d be in this spot that I’m at right now,” says Carissa. “Throughout my addiction I don’t think I really thought that there was much more of a life outside of drug use for me. It did get to a point where it wasn’t an option [to get clean.]”
Anna Ochoa has her hands and heart full as a mom to 5 boys, spanning all the way from toddler up to age 16. She won’t brag about the hard work she’s done to reunify with her kids and continue to parent them, but her quiet strength is apparent when she speaks.
Dusty was reunified with her 12 year old son this past March. “It’s so good to be together... A lot of people didn’t think I was going to make it,” she says. Her journey is one of determination, grit and hard work. “I’m still in recovery,” she says. “So it’s an everyday process, but it feels awesome.”
